I headed over to the Iowa Memorial Union this evening with a couple of friends to listen to a lecture delivered by Tammy Bruce, a self-identified "openly gay, pro-choice, gun owning, pro-death penalty, voted-for-President Bush progressive feminist."

In her speech, Ms. Bruce labeled all public interest groups and worker unions remnants of Communism. In addition, she said that the only freedom that exists is "financial freedom” – and she urged members of the audience to obtain it.

Despite her praise of U.S. forces overseas and her infatuation with money and material wealth, Ms. Bruce was still rather motivating and very entertaining. Besides the fact that she completely ignored me when I raised my hand, she turned out to be okay . . .
